Hi, In yoga poses, Balasana / Child's pose is one of the simple and beginner level pose to practice on a daily basis, which will definitely improve your overall health. It is a resting pose with a gentle stretch.
What is Balasana?
Balasana (child's pose) is a beginner level yoga posture, which provides a nice stretch to our various body parts. It also plays a major role in calming mind and relieving stress & fatigue. Balasana is commonly practiced as a resting posture between other yoga postures.
Precautions:
- Avoid doing this asana if you have any knee/ ankle injuries.
- If you are pregnant, do not press your belly against thighs.
- Patients with high blood pressure should avoid practicing balasana.
How To Do:
- Kneel on the floor and touch your big toes together. Sit on your heels, now separate your knees as hip-width. Take breath.
- Exhale and lay your torso between the thighs. The forehead must rest on the floor.
- Stretch your arms in front of you with the palms towards the floor. Variation: You can also keep your arms alongside your thighs with the palms facing upwards. Release the front of your shoulders towards floor.
- Stay in this pose for 1-3 minutes keeping constant breathing.
- To release the pose, gently move your torso to upright position and sit on your heels.
