What is Savasana:
Savasana or Corpse pose is a posture for total body-mind relaxation. Physically it is not a challenging pose for a beginner. But it is one of the most important postures, that provides a total body and mind relaxation and co-ordination. Generally, this pose is practiced after an active session of other yoga poses. So this posture allows the body to absorb the full effect of the prior yoga exercises. It also makes your mind and body refreshed and rejuvenated.
Precautions:
Savasana is completely safe for you, if you are not restricted to lie on your back by your doctor.
How To Do Savasana:
- Lie flat on your back without using any pillows. Make sure that you are lying in a comfortable position.
- Keep your arms at your side with palms facing up.
- Place your legs in a comfortable position with your toes are facing side-wards.
- Close your eyes and relax.
- Breath slowly and deeply through the nostrils.
- While breathing, pay your full attention to your body and try to set in in a state of complete relaxation.
- Be in this position for 10-15 minutes.
- Then open your eyes and feel the surroundings.
