What Is Padmasana :
Padmasana (Lotus Pose) is a cross-legged yoga posture, commonly known as the meditative posture. As the name indicates, this pose resembles a lotus and symbolizes Transcendence. A lotus that grows through the mud and water and rising out of it to full bloom above the water and opens to the sun. As per the experts of yoga, it is a symbolic presentation of our life journey. It is a powerful asana that can settle your nerves and calm mind. Padmasana is an intermediate to advanced level posture, may not be comfortable for beginners. It is the best pose to connect and synchronize our body and mind. It provides a complete relaxation to our mind and improves concentration.Precautions:
- Do not try this posture without proper guidance if you are a beginner.
- Avoid doing this asana if you have any knee or ankle injuries.
How To Do:
- Sit on the floor with your spine erect and legs stretched in front of you.
- Bent the right knee and with the help of your hands place the right feet on the left thigh. The heels must be close to your abdomen.
- Now bend the left knee and place the left feet on right thigh (like we done for right feet).
- Place your both hands on your knees by holding mudra position (any mudra of your choice).
- Keep in mind that your spine and head should be erect.
- Be in this position for some time with gentle long breath.
- Repeat this posture with the other leg too.
Mudras for Padmasana:
Mudras are well known for activating the energy flow through our body. There are different mudras which has different amazing benefits. While doing padmasana, you can use any of mudras like Chinmudra, Chinmaya mudra, Adi mudra or brahma mudra.
