How to get long strong nails naturally


Hi, We all like to have beautiful long healthy nails. Do you think it is very difficult to get such nails and maintain them properly? No, its not like that. If you take a proper care of your nails its easy to have long gorgeous nails. Here I am providing some simple easy to follow steps to get  healthy strong nails.

1. Care Your Nails Properly

Shape your nails 



  • Cut your nails in a preferred shape.
  • Never cut them too short
  • A basic shape is good for the growth of your nails.
  • File nails properly.
  • File them from outside edge towards center.
  • Never file your nails in a back and forth motion.

Care your cuticles



  • Always clean your nails and cuticles for a beautiful healthy look.
  • Be very gentle and careful on removing cuticles
  • Never push back the cuticles too hard, it will damage your nail beds.
  • Soak your nails before removing cuticles, it will soften the cuticles.
  • If needed, use some cuticle removers on your nails.
  • Always keep your cuticles moisturized.

Nail strengthening treatments

Many nail strengthening treatments are available in market. If you are comfortable with those strengthening products, you can easily use them on your nails. Creams, serums are very common and works well as strengthening treatments. Nail strengthening polishes are also very common and easy to use.

2. Things To Avoid

Biting Nails


Biting nails is a habit for many. It definitely slow down the growth of the nail and also causes bacterial infections. So its time to stop the bad habit. If you feel difficult not biting your nails; keep them well polished every time, so it will reduce the chance of biting them. Add some nail arts also if you are interested.

Chipping your nail polish


Chipping your nail polish almost removes the top layer of your nail. So your nails will become weak and brittle. Remove the nail polish using a good nail polish remover when it starts chipping.

Skipping Base Coat


Never skip a base coat because it acts as a barrier layer for your nail. It help[s protect your nail from staining and also reduce the chances of chipping.

Using Gel and acrylics



Excessive use of gels and acrylics damage the health of your nails. If you are using these things very often, your nails will become weak. It damages your nail beds and they become unlikely to grow. Also be too careful on removing the acrylics. An non-proper or rushed removal also leads to weak, brittle nails.

Avoid toxic nail polishes


Wearing too much chemicals is not good for the health of nails. Try get something less toxic for you. I can't stress too much on this point because nail polishes are made of lots of chemicals. The only thing we can do is to select a good one which doesn't contain harsh chemicals.

Applying too much pressure on your nails

Don't use your nails for scrapping or peeling some hard things, that will make your nails brittle and weak. So be conscious about the health and beauty of your nails.

3. Foods & Vitamins that support nail growth

Biotin (Vitamin H )

A good range of Vitamins are necessary for the health and proper growth of your nails. Biotin is one such Vitamin which promotes the growth of nail , hair and skin. Biotin deficiency may lead to weak, thin and brittle nails. We need 30-40 micro grams of biotin everyday.



Foods containing Biotin:
  • Whole grains
  • Banana
  • Carrot
  • Avocado
  • Salmon
  • Almond
  • Tomato
  • Soybeans
  •  Milk
  • Egg
  • Mushroom

Folic acid (Vitamin B9)

Folic acid is an essential Vitamin for cell growth. So try to consume foods with a good content of folic acid every day to support growth of healthy nails.



Foods containing Folic Acid:
  • Leafy vegetables
  • Egg
  • Meat
  • Cheese

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is good for strengthening your nails, bones, teeth etc. We need a consumption of 700-900 micro grams per day. So intake of foods containing Vitamin A helps to maintain good healthy nails.

Foods Containing Vitamin A:
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Spinach
  • Liver

4. Home remedies for proper nail growth

Orange juice And Olive oil


What you need:
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
Method:
  • Mix 1 cup orange juice with 2 Tbsp Olive oil and stir well
  • Soak your nail for 10 minutes
  • Rinse with water
  • Pat dry your nails and apply some moisturizer
  • Do it once a day
Benefits:

Orange juice contain Vitamin C and Folic Acid, which are essential for nail growth. Olive oil moisturizes and strengthen your nails. Soaking your nail in orange juice +olive oil  mixture helps to exfoliate nails and cuticles due to the presence of citric acid in orange juice and moisturize well due to the presence of olive oil in it.

Coconut oil And Honey


What you need
  • 2 Tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoon Honey
  • 4 drops of Lemon oil
Method
  • Mix 2 Tbsp of coconut oil and 2 Tbsp of Honey in a bowl
  • Add 3-4 drops of lemon oil in it and stir well
  • Soak your nail in the mix for 15-20 minutes
  • Rinse your nails and pat dry
  • Do it 1 or 2 times a week

Coconut oil contains the essential nutrients for healthy nails. It has anti fungal properties that helps to reduce any infections in your nail. Honey provides enough moisture to your nail and cuticles. And Lemon oil helps to repair nails and protect cuticles.

Olive Oil


What you need
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Method:
  • Take some Extra Virgin Olive oil in a bowl and warm it up for a few seconds
  • Soak your nails in the oil for 15-20 minutes
  • Massage your nails and cuticles for 1-2 minutes
  • Clean your nails by wiping the excess oil
  • Do it once a day
Note: Make sure the oil is not too warm before dipping your nails.

Olive oil contain Vitamin E which helps to nourish your nail and moisturize it well. It accelerates the nail growth and make them strong.

Coconut Oil


What you need 
  • Virgin Coconut oil
Method
  • Warm up some virgin coconut oil
  • Massage it on your fingers
  • Remove the excess oil from nails
  • Do this everyday for good results
